First off, take your model and make it one mesh. Attach all the objects.

Select and hit Ctrl V This will bring up a duplicate option box. You can make duplicits in other ways. With this your object does not move.

Add a push modifier to one of the cars. Be sure to name them as it will be hard to select them. You can hit H in max to bring up an object list. I normaly set the value to 0.1
Then go to the matirial editor and give this object a flat black wireframe matirial. If your new to max a reagular blinn will have check boxes, 2d, wire, ect.

Select the second (non pushed) object and give it a flat white matirial. Make sure to give it 100% self-alumination. It will show the triangles in the viewport, but not in the render so dont worry. If you do wish to show triangles you will have to cut them in. (grab every vertex and hit Ctrl shift E)

Rather then make the smaller car white you could give it a use background matirial and make sure your render type supports alpha. I normaly just work with a black and white image and set it as a multiply layer. So set the background to white and render it. Next into combustion
