UV Mapping Tools

1... Next>

I think it would be good to go over some of the other sometimes less useful uv mapping tools just in the off chance that they will solve problems for you.

I have made a cylinder and applied cylinder mapping to it. You can see that the gizmo is stretched out verticaly. This was to Keep the pixels square on it.
I normaly use planar and box. some time you might use cylinder. The rest are not useful (in my opinion)

Where i have the (1) are the numbers for the gizmos size and shape. if you go into sub-object mode you can use max transform tools (move scale whatever) these can be useful if you have something square and long like a railing and know that you have a small square tiling texture. Just rewrite them all to be 10 10 10 or simaler

By (2) there are some alignment tools.
Fit fits the image to your object by stretching it into the right size
Bitmap fit basicly makes it square pixels by checking the image size
View align rotates the gismo to match the camra (or perspective) what you can do is orbit the camra so that you are looking right at a face then hit the button.
